Welcome to Amber Setchel Art
A little about me.
I am a landscape abstract artist in Asheville, NC. I primarily use acrylics in every possible color imaginable and colored pencils in my art.
My art journey started at a young age. My mother daily kicked my siblings and I out of house forcing ourselves to be creative. Living in rural western New York before the internet, you had to use their imagination to fill their days. I spent hours drinking up the shapes, colors, and textures of the nature outside our front door.
During my high school years, my parents eventually left the country life for the city life of Atlanta, GA. In Atlanta, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting from Georgia State University. After receiving my BFA degree, I started working in the finance industry after the harsh reality of having to pay monthly expenses set in. Even though I worked in the finance world for many years, I always kept my passion for art alive by continuing to paint part time. During the pandemic I made the leap to beautiful Asheville, NC and started displaying and selling my art.
The spectacular western North Carolina landscapes, reminiscent of the rural landscapes of my nativewestern New York, provide me with ongoing inspiration for my art. I love to incorporate vibrant color, organic shapes, textures, layering, and movement in my work. I primarily paint with acrylics and use pencils and other tools to create marks and textures.
I currently live in West Asheville with my miniature dachshund, Finley.
